El Puente Washed
El Puente Washed
Palestina, Huila, Colombia
El Puente Washed showcases the vibrant character of coffees grown by smallholder farmers in the highlands of Palestina, Huila, one of Colombia’s most renowned coffee-producing regions. This origin is celebrated for its diverse microclimates, high elevations, and nutrient-rich volcanic soils—all ideal conditions for producing expressive and complex coffees.
Founded in 2018 by Clearpath Coffee, the El Puente processing facility was established to bridge the gap between local producers and the global specialty market. By purchasing ripe coffee cherries at a fixed price equivalent to dried parchment, El Puente provides farmers with consistent income while centralizing processing to ensure quality and traceability.
This Washed process coffee is crafted using time-honored techniques: careful cherry selection, mechanical or manual depulping, and fermentation for 24–32 hours in clean tanks to remove mucilage. The parchment is then dried slowly over 20–25 days, often on raised beds, to preserve flavor integrity and consistency.
The result is a cup that balances sweet, dried raisin and ripe plum notes with a silky milk chocolate body—an approachable yet layered profile that reflects the terroir and meticulous processing.
Through transparent pricing, quality premiums, and producer support, El Puente fosters long-term sustainability, continuous improvement, and a shared commitment to coffee excellence.
