The Retreat of Quisaya
The Retreat of Quisaya – A "Fancy" Grade of Refined Coffee
The Retreat of Quisaya: A Legacy of Excellence Since 1832
El Retiro del Quisaya, is a family-owned farm passed down through generations of the Alburez family, has been producing high-quality coffee in La Merced and El Retiro for nearly two centuries.
Situated at 1,800 to 1,900 meters in Guatemala’s rich volcanic terrain, the farm cultivates Bourbon, Pache, Geisha, Maragogype, and Typica varieties under the natural shade of Gravilea and Inga trees. Traditional wet milling methods ensure a clean and refined cup profile.
Resilient through history, the farm was rebuilt following the 1976 earthquake and conflicts of 1981, preserving its deep-rooted heritage. Today, the descendants of Carlos and Balbina Alburez continue their commitment to producing “fancy” grade coffee, honoring a legacy of craftsmanship and excellence.
A Bourbon Variety with flavor notes of Blueberry, Apple, and Citrus.
