YIRGACHEFFE PEABERRY
YIRGACHEFFE PEABERRY
Banko Gotiti, Ethiopia
This heirloom Peaberry lot comes from smallholder farmers in Banko Gotiti, a highland village in the southern Yirgacheffe district, part of Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone. Grown at elevations of 1,900 to 2,200 meters above sea level, the coffee thrives in fertile volcanic soils and a cool, misty climate—ideal for slow ripening and flavor development.
Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the Banko Gotiti Washing Station, where they are processed using the natural (dry) method. The whole cherries are dried on raised beds for 15–20 days, turned regularly to ensure even drying and prevent overfermentation. The Peaberries are truly unique and carefully separated. The small round beans are formed when only one seed develops inside the cherry, and they are known for their density and flavor intensity.
The result is an amazing fruit-forward and expressive cup with flavor notes of Plum, Strawberry, and Blueberry. Wow!
